Biography for Bob Gauntner Bob attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He earned a BBA degree in Business Management in 1965 and an MBA focused on Economics and Marketing in 1967. During this time he also completed an internship in Hospital Administration in Chicago. While in college Bob played football and ran track for the WMU Broncos. During graduate school he met his wife, Barbara Rogge, who also graduated from WMU. Following college he joined the United States Marines and attended flight school in Pensacola, Florida. Bob and Barb were married while in Florida and have been married for 43 years. They moved to Southern California prior to his going to Vietnam in 1968-1969. Bob flew Med-Evac Helicopters and C117 transport aircraft during his 12-month tour in Vietnam. He reached the rank of Major during his military aviation career. Leaving the military in 1971, Bob established himself as a successful sales representative and district manager for a pharmaceutical company in Detroit and Chicago. He also flew part time as a commercial pilot for a charter flight company. In 1980 he joined American Hospital Supply and moved to Orange County, California. where he became the National Sales Manager for their Home Care division. He joined ServiceMaster HealthCare and later ARAMARK Corp where he was a VP of Sales and retired after 20 years in leadership roles. After 6 months of retirement Bob realized that playing golf five days and gardening two days a week was not as rewarding as anticipated. He subsequently returned to work as a consultant and VP of Sales for a high tech security camera company. Bob and Barb continue to live in Coto de Caza, (Southern) California. and have a son in the area and a daughter in Edmonton, Canada. They have 3 grandchildren in Edmonton. Together Bob and Barb have taken golf trips to Scotland, Ireland and Canada. They have enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and to several countries in Europe. In August, 2010, they enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Scandinavian countries where they visited Barb's relatives. Bob continues to stay active with sports and can be found either golfing, hiking, playing tennis or biking. He currently serves on the board of the Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club and manages several of the club's golf tournaments. |
