Biography for

Mary (McAllister) LaCarte

Mary graduated from the University of Dayton in 1965 receiving a B.S. in medical technology. That same year she passed the A.S.C.P. (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) board and worked at Suburban Community Hospital in Cleveland.

On February 19, 1966, Mary married Jack LaCarte, also a University of Dayton graduate. They have been married for 45 years. Jack is a general manager with R.T.S. Packaging Company in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, about 35 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. Mary was a stay at home mom and raised five sons. She is now a hands-on grandma to 11 grandchildren with one more on the way. They all live in the same community and have large family get-togethers.

Mary is at her best hitting the walking trail, singing in the church choir, or traveling to visit her family still living in Brecksville. She also enjoys gardening, boating and golfing at her family vacation get-away at Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. Mary and Jack are avid Pittsburgh Steeler fans, but at one time college football was a big part of their lives. Several sons played football at Allegheny College and the University of Pittsburgh. There were many fun weekends traveling to all the games.

Besides her parents, Mary has lost beloved family members in recent years, all graduates of B.H.S.-- her brother, Bill, class of 1945; sister-in-law, Pat (Kowalski) McAllister, class of 1960; and her sister, Jane, and brother-in-law, John Baraona, class of 1965.

A lot has changed in fifty years, but what has not changed and never will are Mary’s fond memories and lasting friendships made at Brecksville High. She wouldn’t trade those days for anything. She appreciates all the hard work of the reunion committee and anticipates a great 50th celebration with everyone in June!
