Biography for

Barbara (Russell) DeVries

 

After graduation, Barbara spent two years at Ohio University, four years in Ohio, and then she moved to California where she has been for the past 45 years with a nine month hiatus in Illinois. She has been married to her husband Larry for 40 years and has been blessed with 5 wonderful children (his, hers, and ours), 14 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

After working for a neurologist in Pasadena, for the Auto Club, and in the local school district with learning disabled teenagers, she spent 28 years working for the US Navy at China Lake (Tom Clancey's secret place in the desert). Much of the last 14 years was her most challenging and fulfilling work as the Business and Financial Manager for the Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) Program. Working with such a phenomenal team of Navy, Air Force, and Contractor personnel carried her to many different places multiple times such as Washington, D.C.; London; Dallas; Seattle; Chicago; Orlando; Tucson; Patuxent River; Fort Walton Beach; and even Aurora, Ohio.

Since retiring in 2007, her activities include working part time for the local school district, reading, knitting, crocheting, working with stained glass, and traveling in her motor home.
