He worked with computers as an analyst; a programmer; a firmware microcode, operating systems design/implementation, LAN design/implementation, Linux systems administrator; and Network Administrator until he retired in 2009.

Jim is divorced and has two children and two grandchildren.

He enjoys "doing the geared thing" with a Miata sports car shoe-horned in a turbocharger. He also enjoys "blowing off kids in their 5.0 Mustangs." He has restored a couple of motorcycles, but sold them after he got "T-Boned" by a truck in the early '80's.

After he retired, he survived a "botched" total knee replacement that resulted in his right leg being amputated above the knee.  Jim is now learning to drive with a prosthetic leg which he says, "is harder than it looks."
